1985:
Pieter Bas was born in Genk (Belgium) on the 8th of January.
Pieter studied art in school(VTI, Hasselt). A path he was already destined to do when he was very young.
2002:
He ceased his education at the age of 18.
2 years before graduation. The reason for quitting was that he couldn’t function in the school system nowadays. But he never stopped learning or creating. He wanted to find his own language to express what's in his chaotic head.
At the age of 17 he started taking painting lessons in the academy for fine art in Hasselt, where he still lives and paints today. Today he still is the youngest student of the
adult paint course.
2003:
he started to study a professional animation course of 2 years on saterday and extra classes on monday evenings to keep developing the skills. Animation is something he already experimented with since he was a child and he still
uses animations for projects he does for himself and others.
2006:
he started working in Mechelen (Belgium) as an assistant editor/production assistant for the film "Secret Realm",
a full length animation feature in 3d.
This is the first film by Secret Realm Productions, a forran animation companie that's based in Mechelen. which is unic in Belgium. This is probely the fist CG (3d) feature made in Belgium. At the same time he started to make a behind the scene documentry for this film...

Pieter is a chap that lives for art. He paints, draws, takes pictures, makes experimental short films and animations. Its not the most mainstream art. Sometimes you may like it, sometimes you don’t. There is no measure in his style and there are no rules. He tries to let the painting sound like music when you look at it. when he feels that vibe in his painting that you feel when you listen to your favorite music. that’s the feeling he's going for. than he knows his work is nearly done.

Pieter Bas is een jonge Hasseltse kunstenaar. Hij benadert schilderen als zijnde muziek maken.
‘Het gevoel dat ik heb bij het horen van mooie muziek’, zo verklaart Pieter, ‘Wil ik overbrengen met vormen en kleuren’. En net zoals muziek een abstracte vorm van kunst is, werkt Pieter vooral met abstracte vormen.
Zelf zegt hij hierover: ‘Mijn werken hebben meestal geen van te voren bepaalde verhaallijn. Ik vind het belangrijk dat mensen een verschillende inhoud kunnen geven die het best bij hun past. Omdat er van één werk net zoveel versies bestaan als er toeschouwers zijn’.
